Film Energy Chemistry for Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory (FEC), led by Professor Chen Yiwang as the academic leader, focuses on applied research of new energy materials such as organic functional polymers and their composites in areas including organic solar cells, perovskite solar cells, and electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices. It has formed a multi-disciplinary echelon team capable of participating in international competition, integrating both academic expertise and technical proficiency. The team currently includes 7 professors, and 7 doctoral supervisors.

The Lab with a floor area of 2000 m2 for experiment and fixed assets worth 80 million yuan take both basic and applied research programs. More than 200 PhD and master students have graduated from this lab. More than 80 national research programs have been granted to this lab, including the State Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Sino German International Cooperation Project, Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, General Program from Natural Science Foundation of China and National Key Basic Research Program of China (973 Program).

The lab has published more than 500 research papers in high quality journals such as Science, Nat. Synth., Nat. Commun., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., and Adv. Mater., etc. The lab also got more than 50 authorized invention patents. Staff in this lab has won the first prize of natural science award of Jiangxi province once, the second prize of natural science from Chinese Ministry of Education once, the second prize of natural science award of Jiangxi province 4 times, the third prize of technical invention of Jiangxi province once, and the second prize of teaching achievement in Jiangxi province 3 times. More than 10 PhD students won Excellence for their doctoral dissertations in Jiangxi province, 4 students won Science and Technology Innovation Award for Chinese Youth. The lab has made some breakthroughs in printing fabrication flexible solar cells and produced high energy density devices for energy storage, and some have been industrialized.
