Comprehensive Experimental Center

In 2014, the Specialized Chemistry Laboratory, founded by the labs from the departments of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science in 2003, was merged with the Laboratory of Special Advanced Disciplines co-constructed by the Central and the Local Government and founded in 2007, to form the new Comprehensive Experimental Center (CEC). CEC is a multi-disciplinary experimental platform, guaranteeing education, scientific research and normal testing. It is located at the Building of Physical Sciences and Biology, Qianhu Campus.

CEC has a total area of 800 m². It is equipped with 200 instruments, such as NMR, LC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS, IR spectrometers, fluorescence spectrophotometers, UV-vis spectrophotometers, an elemental analyzer, an automatic chemisorption analyzer, steady-state and transient-state fluorescence spectrometers, and electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometers, which are worth more than 10 million CNY. CEC includes some laboratories for teaching, instrumental analysis, and specialized service.

Laboratories for instrumental analysis

CEC is in charge of the management and sharing of bulk instruments sponsored by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The main teaching tasks of CEC cover the experimental courses for juniors majoring in Chemistry and Applied Chemistry, including medical chemistry, analysis & testing, polymer materials, organic chemistry, energy chemistry, chemical engineering and technology, and materials chemistry (i.e., comprehensive chemistry experiments, applied chemistry experiments, and opening experiments). CEC also undertakes the courses and research experiments of graduate students, analysis & testing programs for scientific training and opening studies, and facilitates both undergraduates and postgraduates in completing their dissertations.

Teaching laboratories

CEC endeavors to do well in instrumental maintenance, development, and opening and sharing, improving the service level of teaching and scientific research of the university. It also provides external services like analysis & testing, and instrument training for enterprises and institutes around Nanchang. CEC seeks good cooperation with the local government through providing economic and technological services. CEC will also provide full support for talent cultivation and talent flow, as well as the construction of practical teaching bases of the school.
